The Last week.

Last friday I finally had it.
I called the company we are working with for Mason and told them I was hiring someone.
Mason has this money that is just sitting there...waiting for everyone to get the game together.

I have and feel completely out of control of our lives right now.
I have no idea what is going to happen in the next few months.
I have no idea where we are going to live...
if we are going to get the funding that Mason really needs...
And what therapy is going to look like.
Everything is out of control.

So I took control of one thing.
I hired this lovely girl.
She actually took charge a couple of times and dealt with Mason's meltdowns great.
It's only the second day,
I am just hoping that she is okay with our crazy family...lol
Hopefully this works out for as long as it needs to work out.

Today I feel a little lighter.
And you know what, it feels really good.
I actually have been able to cook the boys dinner two nights in a row, NOT in the microwave.
It maybe silly, but I cried tonight.
Just thinking about how great it was to be able to cook something on the stove.
I miss the "normal" that used to be our life.
I am just so looking forward to being able to do somethings that a Mom should be able to do.
I don't think I will take for granted actually being able to cook wholesome food for my family again.
I also got to go to the bathroom by myself TWICE today...lol
It's going to be weird always having people in my house, but I guess it's the new "us" for this season of our lives.

So we were on the news today.
Kinda loving the editing they did...
They edited it to look like I said that Mason's feeding pump cost $7000, I actually said that Variety gave us $7000 worth of supplies. They are really good at editing...go figure.
Anyways...just thought you other tubie Mom's would want to know we didn't get ripped off for the price of our pump.
Variety-The Children's Charity has there annual "Show of Hearts" Telethon on this weekend.
For those who don't know without Variety I don't even know what would have happened.
They have been there when NO ONE else was or could be.
They bought Mason his feeding pump and the cute (but not so cute) little backpack Mason carries around.
Mason will also be on the Telethon this Sunday from 1-2 and 2-3pm on Global BC TV.

Here is the link to watch the story from today...
They say the Camera adds ten pounds...
I am so going to go running as soon as I own a pair of running shoes.
Anyone got a pair of size seven Nikes... lol!

My Blog Design business is starting to pickup and it is really exciting.
I currently have two giveaways for Blog Designs so go over to DBD to enter!

Hope you all have a great week!

Variety has done more than I can explain in a few words for our Family.
If you can, will you please Donate & spread the word?
You can pass along the link to anyone you like!

Here is the speech that I will be presenting, Enjoy!

Hello, My name is Dana Sears & I am Mason's Mom. Mason was born with Special Needs. At this time we do not fully understand the "Special" but we do understand Mason's "needs". Because Mason doesnt have a diagnose, Drs dont really know what causes his issues, we do not receive government funding for Mason's needs. In 2009 Mason received his G-tube, this is a tube implanted into his stomach to allow us to bypass his swallowing. When Mason had his surgery we left BC Children's Hospital with Variety-The Childrens Charity Emergency Grant. This grant allowed us to rent Mason's necessary pump & gave us some feeding supplies. After months of trying to get government funding, Variety was there to help us with purchasing Mason's feeding pump. 5 months later Variety gave us a one year grant that covered much of necessary supplies.

Mason's feeding costs are around $100 a day, that works out to $36,000 a year, just to feed him. That is impossible for a young family. Mason also needs Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Developmental treatment, Behavioural intervention & tools to help us in our day 2 day life.

Many families with Special needs Children struggle financially due to the extraordinary costs of raising our children.  Our Family has gone deeply into debt just giving Mason the bare minimums.  We are unable to supply Mason with everything that the Drs. and specialists say he needs. The impact of what Variety can do is etched in my heart. Without Variety-the childrens charity our Family would not be complete. When Variety gave us Mason's one year grant we were weeks away from having to give Mason over to the Ministry, we had no where left to borrow money from. Variety rescued our family, like they have done for so many other families.

Variety gives hope when no one else will help. Variety becomes a partner with families in caring for children. Variety needs donations to continue to impact lives, to help those in need. Your donations allow Variety to make a life changing impact in the lives and future of children.

Our family will never forget what Variety has done, they have changed the course of our lives and we wanted to help Variety change the course of more families lives.
We have decided to join the Annual Coin Drive. We are promoting the Coin Drive within the City of surrey where we live. On behalf of the business, organizations, the families & the communities of those whose lives have been changed by Variety-The children's charity. And we need your help. I challenge the business's and residents of Surrey to join us in this worth while effort.
Your Business, School, Church or Organization can help by putting out Coin boxes. On Variety's website you can read more about "Mason's Story" or Donate on-line. Just visit www.Variety.bc.ca.

Our family is also on Twitter, follow us @Mason4Variety or find us on Facebook- The Sears Family. We will be keeping you up to date on the 2 month long coin drive.

Thanks again Variety-The Children's Charity & to all those who donate.

Oh The Stories Told

Stories so MANY stories

After watching & attending “The Show of Hearts-Telethon”

There are SO many stories of how Variety has helped.

I was & wasn’t aware of just how many Special Children need basics from Variety

It feels like our Children are getting lost in the G system.

We feel BLESSED by Variety

Blessed by our Community

By our Family & Friends

We know that Mason’s “syndrome’s” are very serious...

But my son CAN live!

My son is thriving...

I don’t know what the future holds?

But I pray that it holds a life of Health and no Serious Diseases.

We sometimes feel like life is so hard...for Mason it can be.

BUT for Nick & I it is not hard, just different.

I learned this today, from many Children.

I am filled with many emotions after the telethon.

I feel like we are so fortunate to HAVE Mason, no matter what we have to endure.

I feel so many different emotions after SEEING the stories...SEEING the Children.

Don’t get me wrong I know that we have our difficulties, Mason has Special needs...

But we are not the only ones...we are so lucky to just have the needs we do have.

What if we needed more..alot more?

Would the G help us?

Probably not...

But Variety would!

Every time one of the Hosts said,

“You are helping children, SEE, HEAR....But never EAT?

So I just screamed “Eat” at the TV several times!

I just feel so fortunate...My son does get to EAT

LIVE

Hopefully a very normal life.

I am praying for the other Families around the Province.

Around the World.

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7)

VARIETY

VARIETY-the children’s charity

Without Variety

Life would be so hard.

Charity

The meaning of charity:

“generous actions or donations to aid the poor, ill, or helpless.”

We as a family have felt “helpless” due to Mason’s “ill”ness and have become “not poor”, but have a CRAZY amount of debt.

Variety

Variety has been there for us when no one else was.

Charity is paying for Mason to survive.

Without Mason’s Feeding “tubie” he would die.

In Canada, where we have “Universal” Health Care...

there is no proper “care” for Mason’s “Syndrome’s”.

The government hasn’t yet covered Mason’s basics to survive.

By Basics, I mean $3000 dollars a month in Medical Supplies.

We have received a one year grant from H.E.N. (www.providencehealthcare.org) to cover Mason’s formula, eight feeding bags (supposed to use a new one everyday) and one extension per month (Supposed to be one a week) and one syringe a week...This is just about half of what Mason NEEDS to LIVE.

We as a family have become known to every Government Agency.

Everyone agrees that Mason’s basics SHOULD be covered...

But The Government isn’t willing to help us...

Rescued by VARIETY.

Variety has and is helping us...

Mason has a ONE year grant...

This coming October we will count on Variety to help us again,

will you help them help us?

Without Variety this year we were looking at having a VERY broken family...

The Government recommended it.

Disgusting

Charity

Help us Support Variety...The link is on our page.

Supporting Variety

is supporting MASON and many other Special Children.

Will you help?

Most people won’t...

What about you?

To those who have already Donated or helped our Family personally...we are forever grateful and give the Glory to God.
